About John Wood Tyres

We first opened our doors back in 1974 by our founder John Wood (did you guess that from our name??!) and we are the oldest independent tyre retailer in Hereford. Back then it was all about tyres and whilst this remains the core part of our business, over the years we have expanded to also incorporate a range of services to meet the changing needs of our customers.

 

In 2000, John handed over the day to day running of the business to his eldest son Greg, who joined the company with a background in Engineering. Greg, now the Managing Director, grew the business substantially including the addition of Wheel Heaven, our successful alloy wheel business. And a few years later, John's second son Lea also joined the company after training as a mechanic, which has allowed us to further expand our range of services. (Those of you keen on your Motorsport may also recognise Lea Wood as a British Touring Car Driver - yes he's a busy guy!) 

 

So as you can tell John Wood Tyres is very much a family business! And as an independent local specialist (this means we are not tied to any tyre manufacturer) we are able to offer a much more personal approach, and we think our Vision and Mission Statement reflects this quite nicely:
